Available now in our Document Archive: All Louisiana charter school contracts (and much more!)
By: Jill Zimmerman | November 29, 2010
A decentralized system of public schools with school choice options, like that in New Orleans, requires access to timely information for everyone involved with the education of our children. Since its inception, the Cowen Institute has worked to provide educators, parents, charter board members, community groups and other key stakeholders with reliable access to publicly available state education data. One aspect of this work is our development of a user-friendly virtual data center for education stakeholders.
Additionally, we created the Louisiana K-12 Public Education Document Archive where you can find charter school applications, contracts, financial audits and budgets for all charter schools currently open in Louisiana. For many months the Document Archive was a work in progress as we sought to gather these documents from various school operators. With our work very nearly complete (only a teeny tiny handful of schools are missing documents), we wanted to take a moment to remind you to check out this valuable resource! It is currently the only place where all of this information is available to the public.

Finally, we are always looking for new and better ways to make information more accessible. Please leave a comment below to let us know if there is anything else you’d like to see in the Document Archive.
