Thank you for your interest in participating in a focus group in the research study, Spotlight on School Choice: Understanding the School Selection Process.

The objective of this study is to explore the issue of school choice among public school families in New Orleans. We hope to uncover and understand the factors that influence families’ and students’ choice of schools, determine the level of parental satisfaction with current policies and procedures, and examine the information that families feel they need to make informed decisions. As policymakers and other education stakeholders contemplate school choice both in New Orleans and across the country, your participation will inform policy decisions and the design of school choice programs.

• You will receive compensation ($50 for adults, $25 for students) for a one-time, 2-hour guided discussion on your experiences selecting a K-12 school in New Orleans.
• Focus groups will take place between June 18th and August 18th, 2012. Evening, weekend, and daytime meetings are available.
• Participation is open to adults who bear the primary responsibility for the education of one or more students (including caregivers who may not be biological parents of students), and rising 9th grade students who have selected or are in the process of selecting a high school for next school year.
