The Cowen Institute has once again partnered with Laying the Foundation, Inc., to offer a Pre-AP Summer Institute in June 2012. Laying the Foundation (LTF) is a non-profit company which has trained over 25,000 teachers, provides the only teacher training program designed specifically for Pre-AP teachers and is aimed at increasing the number of students prepared for Advanced Placement English, mathematics, and science courses.

The four-day Summer Institute for will focus on Pre-AP English, mathematics, and science. LTF training is hands-on, teacher-to-teacher training. Certified LTF Trainers provide in-depth training using LTF materials, the latest classroom technologies, laboratory experiments, and online resources. Created by master classroom teachers, the LTF materials and resources can be used immediately in the classroom and add rigor to the existing curriculum. Participating teachers receive an LTF guide, access to the diagnostic materials, resources available on the LTF website, membership in the new LTF online Professional Learning Communities, and support from LTF Trainers and staff members.

The institute will be held Monday, June 11 – Thursday, July 14, 2012. Classes are from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM each day. Lunch will be provided. Classes will be held at Tulane University and a neighboring high school, New Orleans Charter Math and Science High School. Additional details and information will be emailed prior to the institute.
