School Facilities Master Plan for Orleans Parish
August 2008
Abstract:
This document was created by planners hired by both the Recovery School District and Orleans Parish School Board who were tasked with creating a master plan to equitably and effectively distribute school facilities and capacity across the city. The report contains detailed future population estimates, a description of the community engagement process that was implemented, as well as final recommendations. The planners recommended a plan implemented in phases that includes building new schools, renovating some old facilities, and “land banking” numerous others to be either sold or repurposed.
