Abstract:
This report by the Southern Education Foundation ties Louisiana’s low per capita income and slowing economic growth to its failure to provide quality public education to all students. The authors see a “vast gap” exists in student performance and achievement, resources, and investments between Louisiana and other states. The report concludes that the should set as its goal a one and a half percent increase in high school and college graduation rates annually and to do this in part by providing more resources to the neediest students.
