How the World’s Best Performing Schools Come Out on Top
McKinsey & Company
September 2007
Abstract:
This report is a result of a study of 25 of the world’s school systems, including the top ten best-performing systems. Researchers found that improving student outcomes depended most on three things. First, getting the “right people” to become teachers and secondly, investing in their development as quality instructors. Lastly, the system must ensure quality instruction for every child. The report concludes that substantial improvements in outcome are possible in a short period of time regardless of the location or culture of the low-performing schools if the directives regarding quality instruction are followed.
