Each year, public school students in Louisiana participate in standardized testing. Students in 4th and 8th grade complete the Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (LEAP), while students in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 participate in the “integrated” LEAP, or iLEAP. The assessments are intended to measure if a student has gained the necessary knowledge and skills in the subject for a students’ grade level. The assessments are used in school and district accountability and are administered in four subjects: English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The data used in this report were released by the Louisiana Department of Education and can be found online here.
The Cowen Institute analyzes these data to uncover trends. Below, you can read and download the report, explore an interactive map of schools, and use interactive charts to view that data in different ways.
